The most celebrated and historic golf clubhouses in America and Great Britain. If golf courses are the soul of a golf club, then the golf clubhouse is the heart of a golf club. The private inner sanctum for member camaraderie and refreshment appeared in golf’s earliest history, but purpose-built clubhouses didn’t exist until the nineteenth century. Focusing on the most celebrated golf clubhouses built from the late-nineteenth century and into the 1930s, Legendary Golf Clubhouses of the U.S. and Great Britain showcases the true golden age of golf clubhouse architecture. The clubhouses chosen for this book are stellar examples of expansive and lush private estates that were converted into golf courses, and the estate manors into golf clubhouses. Experience the turn-of-the-century coastal charm of thatched Maidstone Country Club located in chic Easthampton, New York; savor a view of the ocean from the locker rooms in the luxurious Mediterranean-influenced Gulfstream Golf Club in Palm Legendary Golf Clubhouses of the U.S. and Great Britain read book online now.

Landmarks in Humanities is a single-volume survey of global culture designed to help students of humanities, cultural history, and history of the arts to understand and appreciate the relevance of historical works and ideas to their own daily lives. In chronological sequence, Landmarks guides students on a journey of the most notable monuments of the human imagination and the most prominent ideas and issues that have shaped the course and character of the world’s cultures from prehistory to the present. The landmarks that mark this journey are the great works of their place and time and, in some cases, of all time.
The text reflects the author's extensive background in the study of Humanities, which has enabled her to craft a narrative that is at once brief and comprehensive, giving students a thorough understanding of the interrelatedness of various modes of expression—art and architecture, literature, philosophy, and music--without overwhelming them with detail. Each of Landmarks in Humanities read book online now.

Crisp renderings of over 40 extant structures from Taos Pueblo to striking contemporaries. Spanish Colonial, Georgian, Stick, Gothic, many other styles. Rich and informative captions date, identify, and describe each dwelling. 43 black-and-white illustrations.
This coloring book has highly detailed, architectural pictures for grown-ups who still love to color. And while children might possibly enjoy this type of coloring book, the finely detailed, intricate pictures would be more fully appreciated by older teens or adults.
I got my first dover coloring book about 30 years ago and have been hooked. I now have a collection of about 20. They are kind of hard to find in retail and when you do the selection is poor.
I find coloring to be very relaxing when you are stressed. I also cannot just watch tv I like to be doing crochet or cross stitching, coloring.
These books are very well done as far as the drawings are concerned. They can be very intricate. Some are made more for children but many would be hard for a child under say 10yrs old to do and feel good about.
They are best done with colored pencils as you can get really good at shading and make them really pretty. I highly recommend this and many others. I do own this specific book.

Twenty-nine meticulously rendered, ready-to-color illustrations portray the many distinctive styles of actual Victorian-era homes, including a seaside cottage in the "stick style"; an Italianate San Francisco residence of the 1880s; the unusual Octagon House in Ottawa, Illinois (1856); a Moorish-styled urban residence in Baltimore (1886), and the elegant "Vinland," a Newport, Rhode Island, residence (1882–1884).
Since I've already completed Victorian Fashions Stained Glass Coloring Book (Dover Pictorial Archives) by Marty Noble, this truly fabulous collection of almost thirty Victorian homes is a natural companion!
What makes this particular Dover Publication so fascinating to me is the fact that these amazing houses are real houses from Baltimore, Newport, San Francisco and more. You are only limited by what your imagination dictates to make each and every one your own! I love coloring old historical houses and these are exceptionally well drawn and detailed. I would say this is a coloring book for the adult or older colorist as some of the details on the houses are quite small and good motor skills would be needed.
